13.1.2021 FC Merchtem wins his second EHF Europa Cup trophy!
This Saturday the 30th final of the EHF Europa Cup has been played. We had Belgian domination this season in the tournament with two teams from the country playing in the final. bratskiekens faced FC Merchtem.
Merchtem opened the scoring in the 34th minute thanks to Remi Staelraeve and his goal was followed up by a Garik Tatevosyants brace to make a comfortable 3 goal lead for Merchtem. Just before half time Gustavo Adolfo Guerrero pulled one back for bratskiekens and the score on half time was 1-3.
The second half started well for bratskiekens and Jan Kužílek made it 2-3 in the 53rd minute. The fans felt that they're in for another dramatic final after the Champions League final in midweek served a win after extra time for No Excuses. However their hopes died after Staelraeve scored his second goal in the 57th minute and in the 76th minute he completed his hattrick. Another goal for Merchtem was scored by Ibe Tjolle in the 78th minute and the match finished with a comfortable 2-6 win for the team from the second division in Belgium - FC Merchtem.

8.1.2021 Final Preview
At the end of the season it's time to decide who will be the EHF Europa Cup winner of the jubilee 30th edition of the tournament. We have two Belgian teams that dominated throughout the entire competition. Let's look back at how they managed to win their semi-finals.
bratskiekens (BEL) played a dramatic semi-final against Amon Amarth (ROU). We saw a total of 9 goals in their match but at the end it was the Belgian team that emerged victorious. They opened the scoring early on, but Gerd van Inkel equalized in the 13th minute. Two quick goals from Tarkan Yavçın and Robert Šošić gave bratskiekens a comfortable lead just before Serdar Sıngın managed to pull one back for Amon Amarth. In the second half Enguerran Gautier restored the two goal lead for the Belgian side, but two minutes later van Inkel scored his second in the match and it was again a close game. In the 72nd minute Jan Kužílek made it 3-5 for bratskiekens and it looked like there won't be enough time for Amon Amarth to get back into the game, but again they showed their determination and made it 4-5 almost immediately. The game went into stoppage time when Amon Amarth finally equalized and they celebrated wildly as the game was heading to extra time. However Henryk Kuropatwa from bratskiekens had other ideas, when he scored in the 91st minute to seal the win for his team.
In the other semi-final we saw two teams from the second divisions of their domestic championships. Yellow Ducks (SVN) faced FC Merchtem (BEL). In the 50th minute of the match the Belgian side had a two goal lead already thanks to goals from Adelino Conceição and Garik Tatevosyants. 9 minutes later Anicet Ahoueya pulled one back for Yellow Ducks after an assist from Óscar Bento. Afterwards Bento missed a chance to equalize and right after that the game was put to bed by Rodolphe Van der Auwera. The score after 90 minutes was 1-3 and that result put another Belgian team on the final.
Merchtem are the favorites in the final no doubt, having in mind that they're playing at a higher division in the domestic championship, but we saw bratskiekens put up some great performances in the knockout stage so far as they managed to win against Gwiezdni Idioci (POL) and FC BlueMonday (EST) with less hatstats than their opponent. Expectations are that FC Merchtem will have a higher hatstats rating, but it's surely going to be a challenge for them.
Kick off - Saturday 19:15 CET
5.1.2021 Semi-finals Preview
Happy new year everyone, wish you good health and a successful 2021! With that said now it's time to focus on the first EHF matches for the new year and what would be more exciting than the Europa Cup semi-finals.
Tonight Amon Amarth (ROU) faces bratskiekens (BEL). The Romanian team are the favorites in this match, but the real test for them will be to win the midfield battle in tonights match. Expectations are that the Belgian side will be dominating posession and that will put Amon Amarth's defence to the test. If Amon Amarth manage to hold their opponents at bay and create enough chances for a goal they might make it to the final on Saturday.
On Wednesday in the other semi-final Yellow Ducks (SVN) will play against another Belgian team FC Merchtem. We know that Merchtem's coach stoorzender will be really pushing for the Europa Cup title this season, but his task to get to the final will be really hard against the Slovenian team. Yellow Ducks are the favorites in this match, but just like the other semi-final it could really go either way. Both managers have used different formations so far in the tournament so we're up for a great tactical battle between them.
22.12.2020 Round of 16 Preview
With the group stage over now it's time to focus on the knock out stage of the tournament. We have the Top 16 teams now playing against each other and the winners will earn a place in next season's Pseudo Champions League.
Tonight SK Horní Zásmažky (CZE) plays against FC Czech (NED). Both teams are unbeaten so far in the competition. Horní Zásmažky have already secured the title in V.248, but they would still be looking to grab that final win on Saturday, to secure direct promotion to IV. On Saturday they'll be facing the 6th placed team, which they've hammered 5-0 earlier this season so a win there looks to be on the cards. FC Czech are second placed in V.9, but in the last league match they'll be facing the bottom placed team in the league, who are without a win this season, so the second place looks to be secured for FC Czech. We expect to see the managers play their best players for this one and fight until the end for the Champions League spot next season.
On Wednesday, we have the early kick-off, where Amon Amarth (ROU) will be facing Leovaleisa2 (IRL). Both teams have important matches this weekend and will be fighting to stay above the play-offs zone in their domestic leagues. Probably both managers will rest some of they key players, but we might see them in action as subs if things don't go well for their teams. The Romanians will surely be pushing to get their second Europa Cup trophy and they are the slight favorites in this match although they're one league level lower than their opponents.
And finally we have the clash of the titans on Wednesday at 20:00PM. Helfenstein 76ers (GER) will face FC Merchtem (BEL). Both teams really close in terms of power rating. 76ers have a very important match on Saturday evening, when they will be fighting for the title in IV.43. On the other hand the Belgian side have secured their place in Top 4 of the league and probably their main focus will be winning the Europa Cup from now on. After they got the highest hatstats rating in the last group stage match, Merchtem are now considered as the biggest favorite for the Europa Cup title. The stakes are really high as one of the teams will keep his place in the Europa Cup next season, but the winner will be playing Champions League football next season, so deffinitely we're in for a treat just before the holidays.
17.12.2020 Round 3 Review
With the group stage now over it's time for the knockout stage to start, but before we go to that, let's take a look at some dramatic ednings in the group stage.
First we'll look back to Group C and the match between Kapital United (GRE) and P.H.Monza (ITA). The winner of the match qualifies for the knockout stage. Monza had the upper hand in the standings with a point more than their opponents. They were the team that took the lead after 22 minutes. In the second half Willie Tilly from Monza had his shot saved by the keeper. In the 67th minute the hosts from Greece managed to equalize thanks to a Panayiotakis Chalkiopoulos header. However they didn't manage to create any more chances to score and to qualify for the next round and the game finished as a 1-1 draw.
We'll go to Group E, where the group leaders the-great-old1880 (BEL) welcomed FC Czech (NED). Both teams were occupying the top spots in the group, but the Dutch team needed at least a point to get to the knockout stage. Pressure was on them as New Carlo F.A. (ESP) won their match against Big Black Violators (ENG) with 3-1 earlier. A loss with two goals for FC Czech would mean that the Spanish team will progress through. However both teams were very defensive minded in that game and the match finished goalless, which means that FC Czech and the-great-old1880 qualify for the knockout stage.
Finally we'll look at Group A, where Leovaleisa2 (IRL) took on CabecaDeMelaoFc from Portugal. Both teams were with 3 points and the winner of the match will be playing in the next round of the tournament. The hosts were the more active team but we didn't saw any goals in the first half. In the 73rd minute Brandon Aherne gave the Irish team the lead after a cross from a free kick. That proved to be the winner for the hosts and they will be joining the other 15 teams into the knockout stage.
10.12.2020 Round 2 Review
With the second group stage round now being played it's time to look back at three of the top games from midweek.
On Tuesday Helfenstein 76ers (GER) faced Leovaleisa2 (IRL). It took 31 minutes for the guests to open the scoring. Olav Preihs got on the scoresheet for the Germans. In the 37th minute it was again Preihs who failed to hit the target for a second time. In the second half the powerful Józef Brosz stole the ball from the Leovaleisa2 playmaker and gave his team a two goal lead. In the 64th minute Ion Jurji pulled one back after a corner for the away team. In the dying moments of the match both teams had a chance a piece to score but neither managed to find the net and the score remained 2-1 for 76ers. With that win Helfenstein 76ers have secured their place in the knockout stage.
A match that we mentioned in the preview was 10 Wasted Years (SCO) vs P.H.Monza (ITA). It was a pretty dull first half and both teams came back in the dressing rooms on the break without any goals scored. We saw a change on half time for the hosts but that didn't help them to create more chances. Instead Frede Knigge opened the scoring for the guests. Saturnino Puerta missed a chance to make it 2-0 and to put the game to bed. The Scotts however were unable to create anymore chances until the end of the match and it finished with a 1-0 defeat for them. After they started with a walkover loss, this is their second defeat in a row and it looks like they won't be able to make it out of the group.
Gwiezdni Idioci (POL) managed to get their first ever EHF Europa Cup win by beating FK Tuva (LVA). Two minutes after the start Andrzej Jarzębiak gave the hosts the lead, but two minutes later FK Tuva equalized. Gwiezdni Idioci got immediately back in the lead in the fifth minute with Tolpyginas getting on the scoresheet. After that lightning start of the match things went more calm. In the 21st minute Max Reutlingen made it 3-1 for the Polish team and that's how the game ended. However we saw two injuries in that game, both of them for the hosts. Tomasz Niekurzak will be out for two weeks and Andrzej Jarzębiak will be missing only one week.
We have 7 teams that have already qualified for the knockout stage and can give some rest of their key players in the last group stage match. Here are the teams qualified for the knockout stage:
Helfenstein 76ers (GER)
FC BlueMonday (EST)
FC Kings of Leon (BEL)
Amon Amarth (ROU)
Yellow Ducks (SVN)
8.12.2020 Round 2 Preview
Today we have the matches from the second group stage round of the EHF Europa Cup. Let's take a quick look to those who we think will be the most interesting ones.
Tonight on Panterdam ArenA, Ajax Panterdam (BUL) is facing Fanklub Defenzivního Fotbalu (CZE). Both teams lost their opening matches. Now they will be looking for that first win to bring them back the hopes of qualifying in the knockout stage. Both teams play very defensive football and we're not expecting many goals in this one. However the three points will be a huge boost for any of the teams.
On Wednesday at 11:30 CET 10 Wasted Years (SCO) will be playing against P.H.Monza (ITA). This will be the first match of the tournament for the Scots after they replaced Lost In Mind FC (SLO) and have already one walkover defeat to their name. P.H.Monza have drawn their opening game against SK Horní Zásmažky (CZE) and now will be looking to add three more points to their record. We expect the Italians to have more ball possession but it will be difficult for them to breach through the Scottish defence.
The final game we will focus on is between FC Czech (NED) and Big Black Violators (ENG). The Englishmen were hammered 3-0 by the-great-old1880 (BEL) in the first round and now they'll be looking to bounce back after that heavy defeat. FC Czech managed to get a point out of their away match against New Carlo F.A. (ITA) and the fans will be hoping their team to remain unbeaten in the competition for another match. It's surely going to be a midfield battle in this one but Big Black Violators go into the game as the slight favorites for the win. A more defensive formation from the Dutch team will make it difficult for their opponents. I believe that we're up for a great tactical battle in this one.
4.12.2020 Round 1 Review
All matches from the first group stage round were played in midweek. Now let's take a look to some of the highlights.
We have three players who managed to score a hattrick in their matches. We have Samer Azzam Al-Raisi who helped Amon Amarth to defeat Pallosauri in a crazy match where we saw a total of 10 goals. Although the former Europa Cup and Champions League champions looked like they were in control throughout the whole game and the win was never in doubt.
Linus Sjödahl took the matchball home after his team FC BlueMonday defeated former Europa Cup champions Ajax Panterdam with 4-0. The Estonians took control of the match right after the first whistle. In the second minute Muhteşem Feramuz missed the first big chance for his team, but two minutes later Sjödahl scored his first goal of the match. Then he missed an opportunity. Ajax Panterdam were trying to hit their opponents on the counter but they were far from dangerous for the Estonian team.
Gustavo Adolfo Guerrero is the last player who scored a hattrick. His team bratskiekens had the biggest win in the first round smashing CFKA El Olivar 7-1. Guerrero scored his hattrick late in the game (61', 89' and 91'). bratskiekens were one of the best teams in terms of ratings in that first round and that puts them in the list with favorites for the trophy.
2.12.2020 10 Wasted Years replaces Lost In Mind FC
Since Lost In Mind FC (SLO) qualified for the final of the domestic cup they will not be part of the EHF Europa Cup. They will be replaced by 10 Wasted Years (SCO).
We wish Lost In Mind FC and their manager -Manuuu- good luck on the final and hope to see them next season, unless they don't go on a run for the domestic cup again.
30.11.2020 Round 1 Preview
It's time for the first round matches of the 30th edition of the EHF Europa Cup. This week we have 15 matches that will be played on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The first match we'll focus on is the game between P.H.Monza (ITA) and SK Horní Zásmažky (CZE). Both teams have played against each other three times in their history. The balance is evenly matched with one win a piece and a draw in their last match back in May 2019. Things have changed since then and now the Czech side are going into the match as the favorites for the three points. However the fans from Inferno Bianco Rosso will be hoping the home advantage to be the key for their team's success.
In the next match we'll have a look at Big Black Violators (ENG) take on
the-great-old1880 (BEL). Both teams are now unbeaten in 5 official games. They met only once in their history in May 2019, where the Englishmen got a 1-0 win against their rivals. We expect to see the Belgian side with a pretty defensive formation and it looks like we might have again another low scoring game between those two. The question is are we going to have a winner or both teams will share the points this time.
And finally we'll take a look at one of the Wednesday games. The match between FC Kings of Leon (BEL) and Pseudo Champions League 36 winners ALAN FORD 2014 (CRO). The teams played against each other in September 2019 and the Croatian team smashed their opponents with 4-0. Now the Belgians look set for a rematch and most likely will get the three points from the match. ALAN FORD 2014 are having a terrible season in IV.14 and are occupying the last place in the division. They have only 6 goals scored and 47 conceded.
26.11.2020 Walkover announcement
The matches from the first round of the group stage are now scheduled. We'll have 15 out of 16 matches played.
5 - 0 Lost In Mind FC
Lost In Mind FC is playing a semi-final in a domestic cup, therefore he will lose the first match from the group stage. However if he wins his cup match on Tuesday he'll be replaced by a reserve team.
We're opening one place in the reserves, so the first one who replies to the post in the
will be listed in the reserves and will take
Lost In Mind FC
's place in case he wins his match from the domestic cup.
24.11.2020 Group stage draw (Preview)
With the group stage draw approaching let's take a quick look at some of the teams that will participate in the 30th edition of the EHF Europa Cup.
We have three teams that have won the competition already. Ajax Panterdam (BUL), FC Merchtem (BEL) and Amon Amarth (ROU) have won the cup once with the latter having also a Pseudo Champions League trophy in their account. That takes the Romanian team to the 4th place in the EHF Ranking and surely they'll be one of the favorites to lift the trophy at the end of this season.
We have another EHF Pseudo Champions League winner ALAN FORD 2014 (CRO). Back in PCL Season 36 (10 seasons ago) they lifted the trophy after they have beaten Tamboerskloof on the final when they were two goals behind.
Yellow Ducks (SLO) have the highest domestic rank from all the participating teams. They're ranked 15th in Slovenia and are currently second placed in II.4. It will be interesting to see how their manager GagaSLO will rotate his team and will they be competitive enough to fight for a Champions League spot for next season or they'll focus on their domestic league.
We also have one team that will play in the EHF Tournaments for the first time. Gwiezdni Idioci are playing in V.169 and are ranked 1980th in Poland. We wish them good luck and hope to see them around for many more seasons just like the other regular participants.
The winner of the tournament as usual will get 1 month silver supporter. The teams that reach the quarter-finals will be promoted to play in the EHF Pseudo Champions League next season. We wish all the teams good luck, enjoy the tournament and let's have a nice friendly competition without injuries.
Group stage draw will be held tomorrow and the results of the draw will be published on the website and in the official forum thread of the competition.

Winner: ARIS KORYDALLOU (903533) - Greece - thattr1 (13237503)

Thanks to everyone who took part in the tournament and hope to see you next season in the EHF Competitions!
15.4.2020 Season 26 champions Juventus DM in Group G
This season we have only one team that has won the tournament in previous editions and this is Juventus DM from the Czech Republic. Back in season 26 they faced Ajax Panterdam on the final and won with a walkover 5-0 since Ajax failed to get 11 players on the pitch, a very unusual way to win the title for sure.
After finishing 4th in their group and losing all of their games from the EHF Pseudo Champions League last season Juventus will be playing Europa Cup football in this campaign. Now they'll be determined to at least get back in the Champions League next season and who knows maybe they could add another trophy to the club cabinet.
The Czech team was drawn in Group G alongside FC LEAR (ROU), Bøvlerup fc (DNK) and the debutants Spartak Moscu FC (VEN).

20.11.2017 Preview: Panterdam - Farmers
Looks as if we are in for a great cup tie, with two well matched teams who will be hoping to head off on a long cup run. Ajax Panterdam's fans are hoping that this is going to be their year to get their hands on the cup but equally Farmers on the storm's supporters are bullish about their chances too. The teams are hard to split, so it should be a very competitive match, with the majority of pundits making Farmers on the storm the slight favourites to be heading into the draw for the next round.
