Format & regulations

EHF Euro format & regulations

The EHF Euro consists of three distinct stages: qualification, group stage and knockout stage.
Qualification
If the participating teams are more than 32 there will be qualifications, where the lowest ranked teams will play two matches - one home and one away match.
Groupstage
The 32 teams are split into 8 groups of four who play each other once, with the top two progressing to the Round of 16.
Knockout stage
From the last 16 until the final, teams play one game against each other.
Final:
The final is decided by a single match and if the final ends in a draw, it will be re-played a week later.
Sorting rules qualifying round:
*1 Away goals
*2 Avg Hatstats
*3 Coinflip
Sorting rules group phase:
A win is worth 3 point, a draw 1 point and a loss 0 points.
The top two teams from each EHF U20 Euro group will join in the Round of 16.
If two or more teams are level on points they are split by:
*1 Goal difference
*2 Goals scored
*3 Results between teams with same amount of points
*4 Avg Hatstats
*5 Coinflip
Sorting rules for a draw in the knockout phase:
*1 Total points in group phase
*2 Position in group phase
*3 Goal difference group phase
*4 Avg Hatstats
*5 Coinflip
Tournament rules:
*1 Both teams are responsible for arranging the match.
*2 All matches are played on the assigned stadiums. The first named team in the draw is considered “home team”. In the Round of 16 the group winners will play against a number 2 from another group.
*3 If you have challenged an opponent, also send him/her a HT-mail that you have sent the challenge
*4 As you know you will have limited time in a week (eg weekends), inform your opponent before, so you can ease arranging the match.
*5 If a team fails to arrange a match untill Wednesday 10:00 HTT it will be a 5-0 loss for the guilty team.

*7 In case of doubt concerning the tournament rules of the tournaments progress. The final decision is always made by tournament organizer sstefan (2955682)
