HISTORY

The European Hattrick Federation has been founded on 1. January 2009.

From this day every season is organized a cup now called EHF Europa Cup. The Europa Cup's former name was EHF Cup, but in October 2009 the EHF Executive Committee has decided on a meeting to change the name of the EHF Cup to EHF Europa Cup. This tournament has now big history and traditions.

From August 2011 EHF members can have 3D video highlights from their matches. They can request a new kit or a logo from the volunteer designers.

In December 2011 EHF has taken over the Little Devils Cup and has changed it's name to EHF Youth Championship, reflecting one of EHF's main priorities, which is to promote youth football and to encourage the development of young footballers.

From January 2012 EHF supports the European Championship and the U-20 European Championship.

In March 2012 has been launched the EHF Region's Cup. This tournament is very small and it's only for clubs that are in the federation. In September 2012 This tournament has been suspended and the EHF Tournament League has been launched. The Tournament League is a league system with promotion and relegation. The top level is EHF Premier league.

In September 2012 a project named EHF Rebirth has been launched. The main goal of the project is to make EHF one of the biggest groups in hattrick.

In April 2013 was held the second European Championship in Hungary. Due to a confusion in the final match, both finalists (Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia) became European champions, but no trophy was given this season.

In October 2017 the EHF Europa Cup was renewed after a 3 years pause and then after Season 20 of the tournament, a new competition was introduced. EHF started working with the Pseudo Champions League organizers and created a tournament system of both tournaments. Now every season the quarter-finalists from the EHF Europa Cup qualify for the EHF Pseudo Champions League and also the bottom teams from the groups of the EHF Pseudo Champions League relegate to the EHF Europa Cup for the next season.

In October 2018 another case of sharing the title in the EHF European Championship happened, when Finland and France didn't manage to beat themselves on three occasions in the tournament and at the end both managers agreed to share the title.

In November 2018 the Russian ErtStar became the first team who managed to win the EHF Youth Championship for two seasons in a row, beating FC Mella 2-3 away from home.

In October 2019 Turkey became the first team to win the EHF Under 20 Championship for two seasons in a row. They won the cup after beating Belgium 1-0 on the final match of the tournament hosted in Ireland and Kazakhstan.

After in June 2020 the change of format in the National teams was announced and hattrick introduced the continental championships, it was clear that the EHF European Championship and the EHF Under 20 Championship can no longer exist with the new format.

In December 2020 EHF and the InterSeries federation became partners. EHF member teams will be invited to participate in the InterSeries league system. EHF became a partner with the Hattrick Unofficial Discord Server and EHF members can also join the server and be part of the discord community as well.

With the start of 2021 EHF introduced the EHF Awards. Special recognition will be given to the best performing manager and player on a monthly and yearly basis. Every season EHF will announce the Manager of the season, Player of the season, Golden boot and Golden glove winners as well.

In January 2021 EHF announced that they will continue to support the official NT European Cup and U20 European Cup, which were previously organized by the federation, but with the new World Cup format Hattrick introduced the Continental tournaments.
